SPIRITUALITY / METAPHYSICS
Born as a Catholic, Reindl didn't practise really a religious believe, yet I consider him a very spiritual person looking throughout his life for answers to the many mysteries and questions around the meaning of life and in particular the human condition.
On several occasions we can see in his paintings the figure of Jesus Christ on the cross. I believe that Reindl’s visual message with this symbol isn’t a traditional religious statement but rather a reflection of his true admiration of this brave human being having faught universal evil until his death and reminding us of the eternal suffering of the world. Reindl was always very critical towards the «arrogance of man», as he worded it. For him, humility was the highest goal that needed to be achieved by man.
