CITIES AND LANDSCAPES
Like a poet does in his writings, Reindl expressed his observations, feelings and emotions of the city- and country life with strong brushstrokes and often using raw primary colours in his artwork. Most of the places shown in these paintings he had visited himself at a given moment, rendering now these experiences by creating his very own and special synthesis of those moments on canvas.
Very expressive in its creative outburst, they really show us more his inner perception of the surrounding world rather than the actual city square, mountain chain, or Mediterranean seashore pictured and indeed duly identified as such by its title. After his immigration to Canada, Reindl had mainly travelled in France , Italy, and Spain in order to finally discover the countries he had not been allowed to visit when still living in Russian dominated Chechoslovakia and to keep contact with some of his emigrant friends now living in Europe. Especially the six consecutive long Summer holidays spent in South-Western France between 1991 and 1996 had a profoundly stimulating influence on his creative vision during the last decade of his life.
